Ben Lesser Keeps the Memory Alive at Zachor
Few periods in world history stand out as much as that of The Holocaust. Although many Jewish captives suffered unimaginable hardship, others survived and are now Living A Life That Matters. One survivor wrote a memoir with that title after creating the ZACHOR Holocaust Remembrance Foundation to honor the victims.
Understanding the Trauma of the Past
Within the chapters of Living A Life That Matters: from Nazi Nightmare to American Dream, Lesser has described what he and his fellow prisoners endured. Some people would perhaps like to forget, but all could agree that it’s important to honor the people who went through that terrible ordeal. Nothing could ever erase the evil acts of the concentration camps, but the sufferers deserve recognition. Ben Lesser achieves this by describing life in the ghettos and four camps, including Auschwitz, Buchenwald, and Dachau. His retelling of daily horrors, death marches, and liberation stirs the soul. Even more tragic is that his family members were nearly ALL lost, and only he and his sister Lola remained. This mournful beginning section sets the stage for the author’s impactful message to the world.
From Darkness to Light
Lesser’s biography is inspirational to all. The author shares his victorious transformation from a battered, disheartened teenager to a successful business man. He articulates his incredible drive to learn English, obtaining a real estate license, and building his prosperous company, “Ben Lesser and Associates.” Lesser started this journey with no money or education, so his life illustrates that anyone can achieve their dreams with enough persistence no matter the hardships.
Leading Others to Climb Their Mountains
The ZACHOR Foundation was born in 2009 out of Lesser’s passion for helping others understand the Holocaust. After a life of maintaining two real estate offices and raising two beautiful daughters with his lovely wife, Lesser retired and moved to Las Vegas. There, he committed his time to speaking at various educational institutions as a motivator and public speaker. In 2011, he published Living a Life That Matters to encourage readers to overcome any obstacle.
